About me

I first became interested in Homeopathy 14 years ago when I needed to find an alternative way of dealing with my child’s eczema. Within a few weeks of taking the homeopathic remedy I watched my child’s health blossom and my fascination with this highly effective system of medicine blossomed too.

I trained for four years at the Devon School of Homeopathy under the tutelage of Misha Norland, an internationally acclaimed homeopath and founder member of the Society of Homeopaths. I now have a thriving practice at three clinics – Axminster, Plympton and my favorite place, my home in Exmouth.

I practice classical homeopathy offering constitutional prescribing in most cases, but when appropriate I use the ‘Sensation’ method. For those that know homeopathy – this takes the patient along a slightly different path that leads deep into the sensation of the pathology as expressed by the patient. Often guiding me more succinctly to the correct remedy.

I am lucky enough to love my work; in fact I would go as far as to say I’m passionate about it. When you train in homeopathy it becomes a way of life – a different way of looking at the world, and through that I hope to encourage an awareness of how to achieve truly creative health through homeopathic treatment.

As a practicing homeopath I am fully committed to a program of continued professional development, as I believe that learning is a lifelong process. I am insured through my membership of the Society of Homeopaths and practice according to its code of ethics and conduct. www.homeopathy-soh.org

What is Homeopathy?

Homeopathy is an important and long established system of medicine. It is a beautiful synthesis of science, philosophy and experience into a medical art. Almost any condition you would take to a GP would benefit from a homeopathic approach.

Homeopathy is based on principles – the laws of nature. The word homeopathy means ‘similar suffering’, in other words ‘like cures like’. Natural substances (plants, minerals etc) that can cause suffering in a healthy person can be used to cure similar symptoms in an unhealthy person (in minute doses).

2000 years ago Hippocrates the father of modern medicine discussed healing with opposites and similars. Homeopathy prescribes according to symptom similarity evoking a resonance within the organism. Mainstream medicine prescribes opposites i.e. anti-biotic, anti-depressant, anti-psychotic, anti-inflammatory. Which means the medicine is working against the organism. Working with the organism means to strengthen it, through the resonance of the similar substance, so that the extraordinary ability of the mind-body to strengthen and heal itself is stimulated.

Homeopathy treats the individual patient. No two patients who present with the same ailment will receive the same remedy. It is the individual characteristics of the person and their unique expression of their situation that decide the remedy

Homeopathy, though holistic, is also very clinical. Everything centres around the patient himself and needs to be explored. Their attitudes, fears, stress factors, traumatic events and responses to these, along with medical information and detailed accounts of the physical symptoms and specific sensitivities to environmental factors. The homeopath listens carefully to look for and perceive a pattern of behavior of the organism as a whole – physical, mental and emotional. They then match this to a remedy and a specific potency (strength).
