Richard Stenning, BSc DC.

Richard set up the Chiropractic Health Centre firstly in Axminster, in September 1992 after graduating from the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic in 1991.

He is registered with the General Chiropractic Council and is a member of the British Chiropractic Association (BCA)

Since graduating he has broadened his scope of practice with advanced training in Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT), Craniopathy, Applied Kinesiology (AK) and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP).

He undertook the Sunflower Therapy training in 2000 and is one of only twelve authorised practitioners of this advanced treatment method specifically geared to children with learning and behavioural difficulties.

The techniques of AK and NLP give a means of approaching each person in a more holistic way. This enables him to deal successfully with patients who don’t respond to the purely structural treatment of conventional chiropractic and also form the basis of the Sunflower Therapy.

With two teenage daughters and an active interest in sport Richard is busy both at work and at home.

Louisa Snell, B.Sc. BSc. D.C.

Before becoming a Chiropractor, Louisa first completed a degree in Physiology at the University of Sheffield. Studying the mechanisms of how the human body works helped to increase her understanding of the effects of Chiropractic on the nervous system. She graduated from WIOC (the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic) and has worked in Buckinghamshire and Sussex before recently returning to the West Country.

Louisa is currently pursuing post graduate training in dry needling (acupuncture) and Neuro-impulse-Protocol (NIP) which she is looking forward to using in conjunction with other techniques.

In 2006 Louisa walked the 900km route across the French Pyrenees from Atlantic to Mediterranean. As someone who enjoys spending time outdoors and particularly in the mountains, Louisa has an excellent understanding of the use of rehab and exercise to prevent recurrence of long term complaints.

Michael Norris

Michael has been in full-time practice since 1995 after graduating from the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic in Bournemouth. He became interested in Chiropractic in the late 1980’s after a serious lifting injury while working in agriculture. The effectiveness of chiropractic treatment and the speed of his return to work, after conventional treatment had not helped was the catalyst to begin his training.

From 2000 to late 2006 Michael ran a successful practice in Nottinghamshire, recruiting chiropractors and other health professionals to work with him. As a result of the growing acknowledgement of chiropractic, his practice had an NHS contract for the management of lower back conditions, something that hopefully will become more widely available. Having decided to return permanently to the South West, Michael is glad to have joined the team at Axminster Chiropractic Centre and see patients with the wide spectrum of complaints that chiropractic can help with.

Many people see chiropractic as a source of relief for painful conditions of sudden onset, such as an acute lower back episode after gardening. However, there is more important and less well understood role for chiropractic and that is in injury prevention in those whose history or activities expose them to risk of injury. It is through this work that long term, enhanced well-being can be achieved. Many people accept the benefit of regular dental check-ups but don’t appreciate that spinal health can best be preserved by a similar approach.

Apart from being interested in treating the everyday things that affect us all, Michael has a special interest in working with athletes to improve performance. He has been treating an athlete for ten years who now has a Great Britain vest for the Decathlon and several Three Day Event riders as well as a number of veteran Marathon runners. The extremes that sportsmen and women go to for their discipline generate problems that most of us won’t experience but it helps improve treatment for all of us.

Michael is a member of the British Chiropractic Association, The College of Chiropractors and has the CCEP post-graduate qualification in extremity injury management.
