The Seven Phases of Vertabral Subluxation

These are the normal responses that each of us experiences to the stresses and strains of every day life. Many of us are unaware of a problem until we experience pain or discomfort (phase 5).
  1. Misalignment is usually caused by trauma, accidents or stress. Examples might include:
  2. Physical Chemical Emotional
    birth diet relationships
    Falls infections family
    accident medication grief
    posture alcohol work
    working habits pollution
  3. Neuropathy is when the misalignment closes on the spinal nerve causing irritation or injury to spinal nerve roots.
  4. Kinesiopathy At this stage the area becomes stiff or fixed or, in some cases, extra mobile so that the normal positioning and motion of the vertebrae is lost.
  5. Dysfunction is when the joints and tissues (muscles) can no longer perform as they should.
  6. Symptoms, usually pain, are generally what brings you to the chiropractor for help. This means that by the time we see you, the subluxation process is already at stage five and has become part of your body. This is why we would prefer to identify the subluxation in its early stages.

    Prevention is better than cure.

  7. Degeneration If the subluxation is not addressed, disease and tissue.
  8. Compensations are often mistaken for subluxations but they are, in fact, your body’s way of trying to ease discomfort.
Your chiropractor will advise you on how long you should allow between maintenance appointments in order to keep your need for adjustments to a minimum. This is different for each of us and is dependent upon many factors.
